CO2e
Carbon Monoxide2The mark indicates climate impacts.
Carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) is used to describe the combined warming effect of greenhouse gases on the climate. The CO2e mark indicates the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere in a product's production chain, from farm to store warehouse.
The journey of food from primary production to store shelves:
Primary production
The cultivation of raw materials such as oats, wheat, sugar beets, and rapeseed, or the production of milk, meat, and honey, accounts for the majority of food-related carbon dioxide emissions. Emissions from primary production arise from activities such as sowing, fertilizing, drying, animal feeding, and the use of machinery on farms.
Manufacturing
During the manufacturing phase, emissions are generated in the processing of food from raw materials to product.
Packaging
Packaging emissions are generated from packaging materials, the manufacturing of the packaging, and transportation to the factory.
Distribution
Jakelun päästöt syntyvät raaka-aineiden kuljetuksista tehtaalle ja valmiiden tuotteiden kuljetuksesta kaupan varastoon.
